Congress is considering more cuts to the federal budget – and programs that help children with disabilities succeed are on the chopping block. With state and local governments already cutting back on critical services, there's no telling how many more young children will go undiagnosed and untreated for their disability during the most formative years of their life if this new round of budget cuts goes through.
Send your senators a message urging them to protect funding for programs that help kids with disabilities thrive.

Protect critical Part C funding for children with disabilities
Dear Senator,
Every year, more than 1 million children under age 5 in the U.S. go undiagnosed and untreated for a disability. With proper treatment, these children can learn and grow alongside their peers -- but without it, many will fall behind in school and struggle to become independent adults. As an Easter Seals supporter and your constituent, I urge you to support the vital programs that help children with disabilities succeed by increasing funding for the Early Intervention Program, Part C, of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and other programs that help children with disabilities get a good start in life. Funding levels for the programs that help children with disabilities succeed are already too low to meet the needs of thousands of children who need help, and if cuts are made, even more children will fall through the cracks. Tough decisions about spending have to be made, but our most vulnerable children shouldn't be asked to sacrifice their futures. In fact, by investing in children with disabilities now, we can avoid more costly interventions later in life and save millions of dollars in the long run.
