In 1997, I received a phone call asking if Paul & Dixon would be interested in participating in an Easter Seals softball tournament. Thinking it was a great team-building idea for our staff and because I am a baseball/softball lover, I assembled that first team.
My colleagues and I soon realized how relatively unimportant the game was but how very important our fundraising efforts were in empowering children and adults alike to be able to manage physical obstacles that prevented most of them from hitting a ball or running bases.
We raised $250 that first year. Twenty years later, we are closing in on nearly $125,000 raised in all. We are so committed to Easter Seals' extraordinary work that we match every donation and increase that match to $165 for each $100 donation to acknowledge that our community has allowed us to serve it for 165 years.
