McKinley's Beginning

McKinley was diagnosed at 6 months of age with Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy. She suffered a stroke in utero thus causing the right side of her body to be paralyzed. Soon after her diagnosis, McKinley started services at Easter Seals both in Peoria and Bloomington. Since then, she has had regular occupational and physical therapy visits. Some of her therapies included leg and hand braces, Botox injections to her leg, casting and constraint induced movement therapy.

Our little trooper just keeps plugging away no matter what obstacle comes her way. McKinley's "can do" spirit (which was evident at 6 months) coupled with an incredible staff at Easter Seals has greatly improved her muscle control as well as her ability to adapt and overcome obstacles.

Where she is now
McKinley is a 4th grader at Colene Hoose Elementary and is doing GREAT!!! She loves art and her favorite thing this year is that her teacher, Mrs. Nelson plays in PE with them every Friday. She is in her 3rd year of girl scouts and has made lots of friends.

McKinley still loves to sing and will be participating in the Penguin Project for the 3rd year. This year's show will be Peter Pan.

The Call To Action...

Thru the years McKinley has been followed and treated by a wonderful team of Dr.s and therapists at Easter Seals. These folks work together to give her coordinated services that are best for her. A lot of her success is largely attributed to the incredible staff at Easter Seals.

Did you know that over 1200 children receive services at the center located in Bloomington?

Every dollar that is raised in McLean County directly supports the programs and services for those 1200 children.
The staff at Easter Seals work with a passion for the children and families that receive Easter Seals services and we are forever grateful.

Easter Seals mission is to provide exceptional services to ensure that all people with disabilities and their families have equal opportunity to live, learn, work and play in their communities.

Would you consider helping Me give back to the organization where I used to work and that has done so much for McKinley? Any amount large or small will be much appreciated and will help Easter Seals continue to touch the lives of other children throughout Central Illinois.

Thank you, Kersten Wilson
