I grew up knowing that Easterseals is a good organization that helps people with disabilities, just as it helped my cousin who had Down syndrome. But, it wasn't until 1995 when I began working for Easterseals Washington that I started to realize the amazing impact that is made by the passionate staff and volunteers who deliver the mission.
After 22 years with the organization, I am still moved by comments from families such as "Your respite services saved my marriage by giving us our first overnight break from caregiving," and "I now have a relationship with my daughter who has autism." I am also moved by the change that I see in my own community, which has become more inclusive of people with disabilities in the workplace and more welcoming of children of all abilities in classrooms and on playgrounds.
My husband and I give regularly to Easterseals Washington, and we encourage everyone to join us in celebration of its 70 year legacy, its current vitality, and its promise to make a difference for years to come.
