Lack of transportation should not be a barrier to employment
Finding the right job can be a crucial factor for people with disabilities who strive to lead the best, most independent lives they can. Unfortunately, consumers who receive employment services are often forced to turn down their dream jobs because they can't afford to get there.
You can help break that viscious cycle . Better Mass Transit, a grassroots advocacy group, is fundraising so that newly employed consumers can get up to six weeks of transportation to and from their new jobs.
Better Mass Transit also supports the following programs for youth with disabilities.
YOUTH LEADERSHIP NETWORK - an initiative for teens and young adults with disabilities, with meetings and events held in Boston, Springfield, Worcester, and East Bridgewater. All groups and events feature fun, hands-on activities and interactive discussions about communication, teamwork, community service, disability rights, career interests and employment skills.
INTERN TRAINING PROGRAM - a pre-employment & training service for Massachusetts students with disabilities who are enrolled in one of the various high schools, post-secondary education or certificate training programs in the Worcester and Framingham Areas. Once trained, all students complete a paid, community-based 12-week internship to gain valuable on-the-job experience.

Better Mass Transit is a grassroots organization committed to improving public transportation in Massachusetts. We believe public transportation should be convenient, reliable, safe, and accessible. The Easterseals MA partnership grew out of BMT's desire to not only improve public transit, but also fill gaps in the system where transit is not available.
