Meet Our Ambassador, Carter

Carter Mead is a happy and confident 6-year-old who has a condition called tetramelia; he's missing bones throughout his body and, as a result, has anomalies on all four of his limbs. When other kids are curious and stare — or are even cruel about his condition — Carter brims with confidence and explains, "I was born this way!"

Carter learned his "can-do" attitude at Easter Seals, where he started receiving early intervention services when he was just 3 months old. It's one of the many reasons the entire Mead family were on hand for their third consecutive Walk With Me last year. Each year, the family raises more than $1,000 during an incredible 30-day fundraising blitz.

"It feels really good to give back," says Carter's mother, KelliAnn. Thanks to Easter Seals, the Meads know that no family living with disability has to make the journey alone.

"It's very emotional to see all the kids push themselves beyond their limitations to do the Walk," KelliAnn says. "It's an awesome experience to come together."
