2009 “A Capital City Christmas”: The Harriott II Riverboat

The revival of Montgomery’s Riverfront District continues under Mayor Todd Strange’s leadership. One recent development is the Harriott II Riverboat. The Harriott II is named for the first steamboat to reach Montgomery from Mobile on October 22, 1821. As the first Harriott brought economic development and prosperity to the then frontier village of Montgomery, Harriott II promises to evoke the continued revival of downtown Montgomery.

For the second year, Phillip Kidd, is our featured artist. Phil’s artwork first debuted last year with the design of the 2008 Montgomery Skyline. With a resounding response to the Capital City Ornament, Phil took on Montgomery’s newest attraction the Harriott II. Phil is a graduate of Prattville High School and is currently attending Auburn University Montgomery, majoring in visual arts.
